Walk for Lives July 2026
On July 11, over 100 people attended Yada’s first ever Walk for Lives. It was a powerful event where people came together to remember loved ones who have lost their lives to fentanyl overdose and to celebrate sobriety and lives won back.
As people arrived at Yada, they were encouraged to make signs of encouragement, hope, and remembrance to carry as they walked the route.
Then the group headed out for a 1-mile out-and-back walk on the Pheasant Branch Conservancy Trail. While we walked, the group enjoyed talking and sharing with each other why they were participating.
At the turn-around spot, the group stopped for a quick large-group photo.
After returning to Yada, there were a few presentations. The Middleton Police Department shared statistics about overdose prevalence in Dane County and gave a brief demonstration of how to administer Narcan. The Madison DEA also presented before Estasha got up to share her story of overcoming trauma, abuse, and the death of her partner Colton from overdose. It was a very powerful and moving testimony.
After the presentations, we gathered together for a BBQ lunch, complete with a live DJ and continued community time.
Overall it was such a hope-filled day as we partner together with others to overcome the darkness and bring hope and life to the world around us.
